S+T+ARTS Prize ’21

Description: STARTS is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances of technology and artistic practice. As part of this initiative, the STARTS Prize awards the most pioneering collaborations and results in the field of creativity and innovation at the crossings of science and technology with the arts. Two prizes are offered to honor innovative projects at the intersection of science, technology and the arts: one for artistic exploration, and thus projects with the potential to influence or change the way technology is deployed, developed or perceived, and one for innovative collaboration between industry/technology and art/culture in ways that open up new paths for innovation. The Grand Prize – Artistic Exploration is awarded for artistic exploration and art works where appropriation by the arts has a strong potential to influence or alter the use, deployment or perception of technology. The Grand Prize – Innovative Collaboration is awarded for innovative collaboration between industry or technology and the arts that opens new pathways for innovation.

Award: Two prizes of €20,000 each

Eligibility: Artists / creative professionals or the researchers / companies involved from throughout the world; STARTS is not limited to citizens of EU-member states.

Creative Capital Awards

Description: Supports artists across all disciplines and their projects through funding, professional development, and resources, including legal/financial/marketing consultations, retreats, and coaching. 

Award: Up to $50,000 in project funding, counsel, and career development services.

Eligibility: Open to artists, collectives, and collaborations working in all disciplines. Artist must be: at least 25 years old at time of application; a working artist with at least five years of professional experience; and a U.S. Citizen, permanent legal resident, or an O-1 visa holder. Applicant cannot be an institution; enrolled as a full-time student; or a Creative Capital Awardee. See website for more info.
