Description: Recognizing the increasing importance of universal design in improving the quality of daily living for all people throughout their life cycle, the IFDA Educational Foundation has established the Irma Dobkin Universal Design Grant. Universal Design is at its best when its concepts are incorporated as an essential part of all good design, including creative, aesthetic, imaginative, functional, and compassionate solutions that respect the human condition throughout a range of abilities, and in a way that encourages interaction among people of all ages and capabilities. The ability to design spaces that can be used by more types of people including adults and children with disabilities, as well as those who are aging, is essential for success in today’s marketplace.
